Our intrepid trekkers returned to Dublin last night after a long tough trek in the Indian Himalayas. It was a tough climb and nights were spent camping out in tents but the whole crew had a really great time and really enjoyed the experience. It was definitely a once in a lifetime challenge!

Again I have to say it - opening the post is one of the best parts of this job. On Friday I opened an envelope - in it was a €50 donation with a handwritten letter from a young boy called Andrew (aged 9) who is from Cork. Someone asked me yesterday if every small amount we receive really does make a difference and I told them, emphatically, it does. Yesterday we had a big post bag - largely in response to an appeal we had in the Irish Times on Saturday. It was great . There were people agreeing to sign ups to direct debits, there were cash donations ranging form a couple of euros up to a couple of hundred and even a few €1,000.

And in the middle of all that was a letter from a young girl (12 yrs old)! ...

Please take some time to read the stories of just some of the children we work with and see what a difference Barnardos makes to children in Ireland. And then please join us and Change a Child’s Future today.

With only a few days to go until we launch our fundraising appeal, we are all really nervous in the office. We have had so much support from so many people who have given of their time and resources for free. We couldn't have been able to get this campaign going without all of that support and we are really grateful for it. We are just putting the final pieces together for the website and have been delighted that so many of our ambassadors and celebrity supporters have lent their support to the appeal.
