Barnardos Rubycard
Ireland’s first chip and pin Prepaid Mastercard has arrived!
Barnardos and Rubycard are pleased to announce Ireland’s first prepaid charity chip and pin MasterCard. The Barnardos Rubycard is available to purchase in any of Barnardos six shops or at www.rubycard.ie/barnardos for €9.99. A percentage of the transaction fees are donated to Barnardos at no extra cost to the cardholder.
The Prepaid Barnardos Rubycard also provides cardholders with the option to obtain up to three companion cards for anyone over the age of 13. Each companion card can be topped up by the main card holder and usage can be managed through the cardholder’s account online, or by telephone or text. The companion cards will be particularly useful for parents of teenagers and third level students, a recent Irish study showed that 55% of teenagers use their parent’s credit cards and 30% use a parent’s laser card when purchasing music, tickets for gigs, flights and clothes.
Cardholders will also benefit from not having to pay the booking fee when purchasing a Ryanair flight. That’s a saving of €10 per person per round trip. Another benefit for cardholders is the unique RubyRewards scheme where cardholders are rewarded with cash back or discounts for using their Barnardos Rubycard both online and on the high street.
The Barnardos Rubycard Prepaid MasterCard costs €9.99 to purchase from http://www.rubycard.ie/barnardos/ or from a Barnardos shop. And for each purchase made in one of Barnardos six shops, Rubycard will donate €1.50 to the children’s charity.
Cardholders can choose from two tariff options: Pay as You Go or Pay Monthly. With the Pay as You Go Option, there is no monthly fee and transaction fees are as follows: Purchases 2.95% (min 75c, max €2.00) in Ireland and abroad. ATM withdrawals are €2 in Ireland and €3.50 per withdrawal abroad.
With the Pay Monthly option, cardholders pay €6 per month and transaction fees are as follows: Purchases are FREE and unlimited in Ireland and abroad. ATM withdrawals are €2 per withdrawal in Ireland and €3.50 abroad.
The Barnardos Rubycard is available to those aged 18 plus who are Irish residents. Companion cards are available to those aged between 13 and 18 years of age.
