Join us on the Grand Canyon Challenge 2012, a seven day adventure into the heart of the ancestral lands of the Native Americans.
In the space of a week the trekkers will cover over 70km and experience the breathtaking views of the Colorado River. They will descend 980m into the Grand Canyon National Park, visit an Indian Reserve, trek across creeks, swim under waterfalls and sleep under the stars!
People of all ages and hiking experience are invited to take part in the challenge. To assist with preparations, Barnardos will organise six training treks in various locations around Ireland with qualified guides. These training treks start in November and run right up to the challenge departure in June 2012.
Those interested in this opportunity to explore an amazing landscape carved from rock over millions of years, whilst also raising vital funds to support Barnardos work with vulnerable children in Ireland, can contact Liz Murray on 01-7080480, email trek@barnardos.ie or text TREK to 51444.
