Mount Kilimanjaro 2011- the Rongai Route

Welcome Home to our Kilimanjaro Trekkers!
Welcome home to Barnardos Kilimanjaro Trekkers; the group landed in Dublin Airport yesterday afternoon-safe and all in good health. Well done to each and everyone of you!
The group showed huge determination throughout the 7 day challenge. Each day they trekked between 6-7 hours a day and on the summit day/night they trekked 15 hours.
The group were all exhausted but delighted to have completed their challenge! We are very proud of the group, together have raised €50,000 for our work with vulnerable children in Ireland-thank you all!
Are you interested in taking part in a Barnardos Trek? Contact Liz today on 01-7080480 to hear how you can sign up for our 2012 Treks; we have fantastic destinations lined up!
For each of our Barnardos Trek, we ask you to raise a target. With our ongoing support and some clever ideas you will be able to hit this target. Funds raised from this trip will go towards the vital work that Barnardos provides for families and children throughout Ireland.
Fundraising Ideas:
- Two trekkers recently raised €4,000 from a Take Me Out fundraiser, based on the successful TV3 dating show!
- A participant held a Mock Wedding and invited everyone from his town to join in the celebrations-at a cost of €30 per person. Guests enjoyed a three course meal and a band-just like at a real wedding!
- Bag packing in supermarkets has proven very popular and participants can raise lots of money from this simple fundraiser. Rope in family and friends and let them help you out!
- Coffee morning - ask your friends and family around for a tea party and in exchange for lovely buns, they can donate some cash!
