Statistics
Barnardos research and evaluation programme is shaped by the information needs of the agency and has two broad aims:
• To develop our understanding of the needs and circumstances of children and their families in Ireland, particularly those children and their families whose well-being is under threat.
• To demonstrate that Barnardos delivers quality services to children and their families and that our services achieve the outcomes that are intended.
We produce research in a number of ways including:
• Analysing our client databases to provide profile, needs and circumstances data on children and parents using Barnardos services.
• Conducting in-house research and evaluation using applied qualitative and quantitative methods.
• Commissioning research and evaluation from experienced researchers, research centres and academic institutions.
• Analysing primary and secondary data and information that helps build an understanding of the causes of disadvantage and marginalisation among children and families.
In this section of you will find data about the number of children and families using our services and their needs and circumstances; recent evaluation and research studies that can be downloaded; and invitations to tender for research and evaluation projects.
Children and Families using Barnardos Services
Every year Barnardos collects information from the children and families using our services. This data helps us to make sure that the services we are providing to children and their family's meet their needs. It also helps us to track the number of children and families using our services from year to year and to identify trends in service use.
