Barnardos is Ireland's largest children's charity, working with over 5,000 children, young people and families all over Ireland each year. Barnardos works with children who face barriers in reaching their full potential - barriers like poverty, abuse and neglect, bereavement or poverty. Our mission is to make Ireland the best place in the world to be a child. We do this by working at a local level with children, parents and families through our Barnardos centres which are throughout Ireland, supporting those we work with by providing additional central services and also speaking out for children though policy and campaigning to ensure that Ireland is a country where all children are cherished equally.
Barnardos Training and Resource Service offers advice and information on any issue relating to children. Find out more here.
Barnardos depends on the support from people like you, money raised at events, our retail shops, from corporate supporters, trusts and foundations - as well as partnerships with health boards and Government departments.
Barnardos was founded in England by Dubliner Dr Thomas Barnardo. Since 1962 Barnardos has been working in the Republic of Ireland, and in 1989 became an independent Irish organisation with our own Board and is now Ireland’s leading children’s charity.
You can help Barnardos by volunteering with us , by making a donation to us, or organising a fundraising event. You can also help us by supporting our advocacy campaigns – for example by raising the issues with your elected representatives.
