Our campaigns

How we campaign?

We want Ireland to be the best place in the world to be a child that is why we campaign on issues that make a real difference to children's lives: poverty, education, protection and rights.

How we campaign depends on the issue, timing and the resources we have available. To date we have used a wide combination of tools to advance our campaigns:

  • Public awareness - surveys, posters, billboards, campaign actions involving public
  • Media - TV, radio ads and print media
  • Political meetings with Government and opposition parties
  • Meetings with key stakeholders and policy makers
  • Engaging with the families and children, Barnardos works to find out how policy is affecting their lives

While specific campaigns are often time limited, we work continuously on our key policy areas advancing our recommendations for reform in different ways: making submissions to relevant agencies such as HSE and COSC, making presentations to key Government committees i.e Joint Committee on the Constitutional Amendment on Children, meeting with political decision-makers, policies, launching research and policy documents, coalition work with other NGO's and undertaking ongoing media work.
