You may notice our dedicated fundraisers on the streets around the country giving passers-by the opportunity to learn more about Barnardos and how to become a Barnardos Childhood Friend.
This is an extremely valuable method of fundraising for Barnardos as it allows us to interact with you - our valued supporters - face to face. It's a great way to find out and learn more about Ireland's leading children's charity.
Barnardos enlists the services of a company called Total Fundraising who specialise in street fundraising. This support is vital to our continuing work with some of the most vulnerable children and families in Irish society. This method of fundraising is not only a cost effective and efficient way to recruit long term supporters, face-to-face is one of the most successful ways of attracting more young people to support our worthy cause.
Barnardos is part of a self regulatory group of charities called the Irish Fundraising Forum for Direct Recruitment (IFFDR) in which all members agree to adhere to a code of practice. To find out more about the IFFDR click here.
If you meet one of our on-street fundraisers, we hope that after finding out about all the important work we do, you will choose to become a Childhood Friend of Barnardos by signing up for a regular direct debit.
Our direct debit donors are called Barnardos Childhood Friends because as special friends of our charity they make a very real and lasting difference to the children we work with by giving regular monthly donations.
