About the Library

Our Library is a national service, which provides comprehensive information on a range of child related issues such as child protection, child development, family support, bereavement, adoption, diversity, parenting, childcare and much more.

In particular, the Library aims to meet the information needs of the City and County Childcare Committees and the childcare sector in general.

Whether you are a childcare professional, social-worker, student or parent, you will find our library an indispensable resource for your information needs.

The Barnardos Library provides:

• A one-stop-shop for information on issues relating to children and families
• Resources such as books, journals, reports, official publications and electronic journals,
• Online library catalogue
• Information on a wide range of subjects (search the library catalogue to view the full list).
• A membership scheme where members can

o borrow library resources,
o access child-related professional journals,
o obtain articles held by other libraries
o avail of a customized literature search service

Síolta Resources

Síolta is a set of national standards for Early Childhood Education involving a quality assurance programme, which aims to provide support and guidance for those working with and on behalf of children from 0-6 years.

To help practitioners implement Síolta, Barnardos Library has developed a collection of resources as listed in the Síolta Implementation Toolkit.

We invite you to visit our centre in Dublin where a guided tour can be arranged for groups by appointment. Please contact us if you would like to arrange a group visit.
