Adventurous Play - Indoors and Outdoors

Wed 30 May - 10.00am - 4.00pm(Registration from 9.30pm)

Venue: The Whaley Room, Newman House, St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2 and St Stephen's Green Park for outdoor activities
This fun and exciting workshop will focus on impact that adventurous play has on children’s learning. This event links to Aistear’s themes of Identity and Belonging, Well being, Communication and Exploring and Thinking. Also to Síolta Standards 1, 2,5,6,7,9,14 and 16.
Please bring suitable clothes and footwear for outdoor activities

FIRST AID - Paediatric. One day First Aid Course

Fri 8 Jun - 9.30am - 5.00pm

Venue: The Plaza Hotel, Belgard Road, Tallaght, Dublin 24
All staff are required to be familiar with First Aid and to ensure Health and Safety of the children within their care. This one day workshop links to Siolta Standard 5, 9 and Standard 15. On successful completion of the course, each participant will receive a childcare First Aid Certificate valid for two years.

Implementing High/Scope Approach

Thu 14 Jun - Day I - 10.30am - 4.30pm (Registration from 10.00am). Day II - 9.30am - 3.30pm

Implementing High/Scope Approach - 12 Module Course held over one year - Starting on Thursday 14 June 2012 and ending in March 2013

Venue: Day I : Thursday 14 June - The Carmelite Centre, Aungier Street, Dublin 2. Day II : Friday 15 June - Barnardos, Christchurch Square, Dublin 8.

Barnardos will be the venue for the remainder of the course.

High/Scope provides children with active, participatory learning and encourages children to become independent thinkers and problem-solvers, preparing them for school and for their future adult lives. It is an evidence based method of working with children, providing proven long-term benefits. This course links to Síolta standards 1,2,3,5,6 and 7. Also links to Aístear themes of Identity and Belonging, Well being, Exploring and Thinking and Communication

Organising and Planning Play for Numeracy and Literacy

Venue: Barnardos, Christchurch Square, Dublin 8 .
This morning workshop will provide practical information and ideas for incorporating numeracy and literacy into play. This event links to Aistear’s themes of Exploring and to Síolta Standards of Play, Curriculum, and the Rights of the Child.
Barnardos 2012 Publication 'Early Literacy and Numeracy Matters' will be included in the day.
