Retail Assistant – Online Sales

Responsible to:

Retail Operations and Development Manager

Works with:

Retail Operations and Development Manager and Retail Management Team.


Job Purpose

The role is primarily focused on developing Barnardos Retail online sales, click and collect, online and social media presence for Barnardos Retail. The objective of this role is to drive online awareness of our retail products and increase sales. This role is target focused and income generating.  

Core Job Requirements

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Online Sales Strategy - Delivering and implementing a content marketing strategy to include the curation of assets showcasing our products
    • Online sales strategy/plan
    • Creating content - written, photography, graphics
    • Working to sales targets
  • Online sales market - testing, measuring and reporting on opportunities for sales and income
  • Social media
    • Co-ordinating and publishing social media updates on Barnardos Retail social media channels
    • Monitoring online conversations relevant to Barnardos Retail
    • Being the voice of Barnardos Retail on social media (with support of Barnardos Communications team)
  • Brand
    • Being brand aware and using Barnardos brand throughout all materials and adapting Barnardos tone (with support of Barnardos Communications team)
    • Overseeing print materials/posters
  • Stock
    • Pricing stock
    • Identifying stock as authentic
  • Customer Service
    • Dealing with and responding efficiently to customer enquiries
  • Reporting
    • Gathering data
    • Monitoring sales conversion rates.
  • Developing a sustainability theme and establish partners
  • Working and relationship building with external partners
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by your Manager from time to time

  • Minimum of one year’s direct relevant experience essential


  • Relevant third level qualification in multimedia or digital marketing desirable but not essential
  • Ability to write well and under pressure
  • Basic HTML and CSS
  • Ability to create good quality content
  • Good project and time management

A full driving licence and use of a suitably insured vehicle is essential, with full flexibility to travel for multi-site operations in Ireland as part of this role.

The position is based in Dublin 15 but the post-holder may be required in to work in other locations in the Dublin area in line with organisational needs.
