What does the Fundraising Department do?

Barnardos fundraising department is responsible for raising voluntary income to support Barnardos services in Ireland in the following ways:

  • Individuals
  • Campaigns and Events
  • Corporate Fundraising
  • Major Gift
  • Trust and Foundations
  • Legacies     

What will the Head of Corporate Partnerships do?

Job Description

Post:      Head of Corporate Partnerships
Location:  National Office, Dublin 8 with travel
Responsible to:  National Fundraising Manager
Works with: Corporate and Event Executives, Director of Fundraising & Retail and Fundraising Team.

Job Purpose

To deliver significant income growth and increased funds from corporate partnerships, improving our sustainability through a focus on long term strategic partners.

They will take ownership and work with the National Fundraising Manager to increase funds from all Corporate Fundraising partnerships and line manage a team to help achieve this. The team includes a Corporate Executive.

Core Job Requirements

  • As the Head of Corporate Partnerships, you are responsible for attracting and securing new corporate partners and sponsors. 
  • Developing a donor acquisition strategy to achieve annual income and ensure a healthy pipeline development for long term partnership growth. 
  • Actively pitching, securing and managing a selection of long term partnerships as well as working with some key existing partners to support delivery of their commitments and targets across the year.
  • Meeting overall annual income targets within budget, and delivering on all KPI’s for your area to ensure the long term growth of the area.
  • Lead the Corporate Fundraising Team to ensure quality relationship management and stewardship of partners in a professional and appropriate manner (in line with the overall corporate fundraising strategy).
  • Develop and cultivate positive working relationships across departments within the organisation, with particular focus on possible partnership opportunities in the future and cross selling.
  • Line manage the Corporate Fundraising Executive to ensure their targets and objectives are set and met appropriately. This includes annual appraisals and any other HR responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Fundraising Executive to develop, implement and maintain a programme of communications for existing and new corporate donors (e.g. regular communication via e-newsletters, use of social media, blog and website etc.). 
  • Develop a clear exit strategy for all corporate partnerships to ensure full review and evaluation, as well as donor care in closing off relationships. 
  • Ensure the Corporate team work with the Donor Marketing team (and Data Executive) to conduct analysis and segmentation of the corporate data on Raisers Edge to deliver optimum results for campaigns. 
  • Support the National Campaigns team in securing corporate sponsorship and executing key national fundraising events and campaigns. 
  • Work closely with the National Fundraising Manager in achieving overall targets and goals. 
  • Attend networking events with a view to building key contact relationships.
  •  Support for media activities and partners as part of the scope of corporate and sponsorship partnerships.
  • Be available to work some unsocial and weekend hours at events when necessary.

Person Specification

Personal Attributes

  • Flexibility, innovation and initiative.

  • The ability to plan and develop long-term partnerships with existing and new contacts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal, written and face to face.

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • The ability to juggle a wide range of activities, prioritise own workload and meet deadlines.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 year’s fundraising, marketing or business development experience.
  • Experience of managing and leading a team.
  • Excellent computer skills and working experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database packages.
  • Exposure to other elements of fundraising and/or marketing activity would be very beneficial but is not essential.

 

Qualifications

  • Education to degree level (desirable) or relevant experience gained either in the corporate or voluntary sector.
  • Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured vehicle essential.

The postholder is initially assigned to work in our National Office, Dublin 8 but may be required in the future to work in other locations in the Dublin area in line with organisational needs.
