Jenny is just six years old, and for most of the last three years of her young life, she’s grown used to going to bed hungry at night.
Jenny’s mum raised her on her own and she works really hard to stretch whatever money she has but she can't do it alone.
“When I first met Jenny it was obvious she was a bright and talented little girl. But she had fallen behind in school and was disruptive and agitated all the time." says Marian, her Barnardos project worker.
She had become unmanageable and her teachers couldn’t understand why.
Jenny’s story is tragic, but it’s only one of the almost six thousand stories of children we work with. Barnardos is the only safe place they have, the only place where they might receive a meal or have someone to talk to.
Barnardos is their only opportunity for a better future.
