Answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about this exercise challenge.
Firstly, join the Facebook Group we set up for this challenge. Click 'Join Group'. Once you're in, you can sign up to get your t-shirt and fundraising pack, get tips, be inspired and find out everything you want to know about the challenge!
In your pack, we’ve included a calendar to track your jumps every day, and we’ve also scheduled in some important rest days. But use whatever tracking method is most convenient for you!
The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. Do as much as you can. You can do whichever type of Burpee you want, as fast or slow as you need, every Burpee you do, indoors or outdoors, helps.
Fundraising with Facebook is the easiest way to raise money. You can set one up in a few seconds here; https://www.facebook.com/fund/barnardosireland/. Or you can click "Create Fundraiser" at the top of the Barnardos Ireland Facebook page.
Make sure to set the end date to 4th September and add “1,500 Burpees in August” to the title, then share the page with your Facebook friends.
All Facebook funds go directly to Barnardos. You don't have to worry about this. It happens automatically. These funds will fund our work with vulnerable children throughout Ireland.
They can donate directly to Barnardos on our website here: barnardos.ie/donate - ask them to write a note in the comment box that they are sponsoring your 1,500 Burpees in August challenge.
Alternatively, your friend/family member can transfer their donation to your bank account and you can make the donation on their behalf from your own credit or debit card to your Facebook fundraising page. You should be able to comment on the donation post on your fundraiser to say where who has made the donation.
If some of your friend only want to give cash, we can send you out a sponsorship envelope so you can record their pledges, and after you can collect their donations, you can lodge them altogether to Barnardos. We can send you sponsorship envelope and our bank account details if you email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you’re injured or feeling unwell, stop your challenge immediately and check in with your GP. Your health and wellbeing must come first.
Even if you don’t complete your challenge and reach your target, you’ll still have made a difference and helped children in Ireland.
We have a handy little video here that shows how to change the end date on your fundraising page: https://youtu.be/KtYG4XjHIy0.
On your fundraising page, select ‘edit’ or ‘more’ or ‘edit goal’ near the top of the page. Then scroll down and edit the ‘end date’ and select save. Easy-peasy!
You can copy the info from your Facebook Fundraising Page and start a new one - just make sure you enter the correct closing date of 4th September.
Make sure to personalise the description on your fundraiser too - Facebook won’t let you have more than one fundraiser for the same charity without personalising the description.
We will send you out a sponsorship pack, which includes your free t-shirt, and more, after you fill in your details (address and t-shirt size) on our registration form. You'll find the link in our Facebook group!
