Fundraising Administration Volunteer - Supporting our National Campaigns

Description of Department:

Barnardos Fundraising team is responsible for raising voluntary income to support Barnardos services in Ireland. We do this through a variety of different channels such as; Donor Marketing campaigns, Corporate fundraising, Events and our own National Campaigns. Our largest national public fundraising and awareness campaign is our flag day, the Barnardos National Collection Day that takes place every September.

Location of Volunteer Role:

Barnardos National Office, Christchurch Square, Dublin 8

Outline of Volunteers Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the paperwork required for our collection days (Garda permits, insurance etc)
  • Assist with phonecalls in a friendly and approachable manner to previous warm volunteers to reactivate them for events
  • Assist with phonecalls to Collection day sites to confirm our date and recording correspondence notes in an efficient and accurate manner
  • Provide efficient and accurate administration support to the National Campaigns team utilising relevant IT packages (Microsoft outlook, word, excel), ensuring all data is up to date
  • Assist in preparing fundraising packs for posting out to events


The Fundraising and National Campaigns team will provide induction, and follow up training with volunteer, as required.

Time Commitment:

A minimum of 8-10 hours per week worked over 2 days (Monday to Friday)
Flexible arrangements in place to facilitate volunteer

Person Specification:

  • Excellent English
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Confident (dealing with general queries – following training)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & Outlook
  • Interest or experience in office administration
  • Awareness of confidentiality
