This course is now sold out, but due to the particular upset many people are experiencing at the moment we are having an additional online support group for adopted adults at 10.30am on Friday 19th February. Please email the service at adoption@barnardos.ie for more info and to register.
A five Session Course for adopted adults over 18 either in Ireland or overseas. Taking place on Thursdays: 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th March and 15th April 2021, via zoom. Facilitated by Therese McDermott, Andrew Walker with Barnardos Post Adoption Team.
The aims of this Exploring Adoption course are:
To give an opportunity for adopted adults to avail of support from each other and to explore the part adoption plays in their lives.
To explore participant's experiences in searching for birth information, and contact with birth families.
To give practical information about search and reunion.
To explore the perspectives of birth mothers, adoptive parents and others in the "adoption triangle".
To explore lifelong adoption issues such as combining relationships after reunion.
To look at difficult outcomes of search including rejection and inability to trace birth family members.
To provide participants with relevant reading material about adoption issues.
To have an enjoyable experience and to meet others who understand adoption.
After you register, you will be sent a Zoom link for the course.
