Barnardos Adult Post Adoption Service will facilitate an online support group for women who parted with a child for adoption. This group is open to women living both in and outside of Ireland.
The purpose of the group is to provide a safe space for birthmothers to meet others and avail of support. The group will be a confidential space for birth mothers to share their experiences with others who may have similar experiences.
Some examples of topics which may arise within the group include:
• Parting with a child for adoption
• How this experience has affected the mother’s life
• Searching for or being contacted by an adopted son or daughter
• Outcomes of search
• Relationships after reunion
