Shannon RFC team up with Barnardos
Shannon RFC kicked off the new season with the announcement of a new partnership with Barnardos, Ireland’s leading children’s charity. The announcement came after the Limerick club’s Munster Senior Cup clash with Sundays Well at Thomond Park. As part of the partnership, Shannon RFC have kindly given Barnardos prime position on the front of its new season jersey.
Noel Healy, President, Shannon RFC welcomed the news “Barnardos is a hugely important charity working to better the lives of children and their families across Ireland. We are delighted to team up with Barnardos which does such tremendous work in the local community.
“Our underage teams are hugely important and we take great pride in linking up with a charity that supports and nurtures children. As a club we share the same aim. We provide huge support for our underage players and aim to instil good morals and our club ethos.”
Speaking at the launch, Fergus Finlay, CEO, Barnardos said “Barnardos has three project centres in Limerick working with children and families in local communities to provide practical supports and make a difference in their lives. At the heart of our work is our aim to help children achieve their potential in life. We have great admiration for the role Shannon have undertaken in nurturing local talent and engaging the next generation.
“Sport plays a vital role in shaping young people’s lives; it has the potential to empower, inspire and motivate children. The current crop of players are excellent role models for local children and future generations who will don the Shannon jersey.
“We look forward to partnering with Shannon in the year ahead and are exceptionally proud to see the players wear the Barnardos logo on the new jersey revealed today.”
