Our Library is a national service and open 5 days a week from 9am - 5pm and is available to all parents, students, childcare professionals and social care workers.
We have a wide range of children's books that can be used in direct work with children. Topics include addiction, adoption & fostering, bereavement, family breakdown, gender identity, mental health and parental imprisonment.
If you are a professional working in the field of childcare or social work, the library aims to meet the information needs of the childcare sector and City and County Childcare Committees. A wide range of journals and databases containing a range of academic journals, reports, magazine articles and research on issues affecting children and families is available.
There's always something new to read! Our library is updated monthly.
Our Online Catalogue has a collection of books, ebooks, journals, resource packs and DVDs, which cover a range of child-related topics such as child protection, child development, pre-school education, bereavement, diversity and parenting.
We have a growing collection of eBooks relating to issues affecting children and families. Barnardos has also produced eBooks which focus on parenting: Your Childs Literacy Skills and Your Child's Numeracy skills are available for free.
Our Childcare Events Calendar is a useful online resource with details of upcoming seminars, conferences and training days aimed at professionals working in the field of child care and welfare.
Membership is available for anyone who wishes to borrow library resources, access our collection online and avail of the other benefits of membership.
If you are a member you can visit our Library and Information Service in Dublin, borrow from the collection, use the members' study space or avail of an information session (individual or group) from one of our two library professionals.
