Participants aim to run every day for the month of April in aid of Barnardos. Runners set their own minimum daily goal based on what is appropriate and what works for them

Siobhan Blackwell is running everyday in April to raise vital funds for Barnardos work with children and families. Siobhan told us what inspired the initiative;
With #RunforaMonth there are no race bibs, no shutting down the streets, no panic over where to park the car. In fact it was created with parents in mind.
Besides enjoying the hobby itself, running has always held a very special meaning for me. Growing up, my Dad had a very demanding job, and he was away a lot. So any 1-to-1 time we spent together when I was a wee girl was always special. Our house was on some land, and there was a logical path which circled the parameters of the property. One of my most cherished childhood memories is of me and my Dad jogging along this path together.
Over the years I have participated in several running events; some I have enjoyed more than others. I love a good race; at most organised events there is a sponsor, a fundraising initiative, a free t-shirt, and a great atmosphere.
Coming up to Christmas 2017, I was busier than ever. Between my day job, building a website and other accumulating outside interests, I was flat out and had little 'me' time. I vowed that in the New Year, I was going to run everyday for the month of January.
But then, being me, I went a bit nuclear with the whole thing and starting my own running initiative - #RunforaMonth!
Being a mother to two healthy young children has given me a new perspective of the world we live in. There are so many children out there who share the same age as my own, who go to bed hungry every night, who don't have clean clothes to wear in the morning, and who are vulnerable to leaving school early - limiting their full potential. It doesn't have to be that way. Wanting to make a difference, I have been inspired to start my own running initiative - #RunforaMonth.
Participants this year, including myself, aim to run every day for the month of April. Runners set their own minimum daily goal based on what is appropriate and what works for them. All participants are asked to raise €100 for Barnardos Family Support Services. It's super flexible - no race bibs, no shutting down the streets, no panic over where to park the car. So the initiative is tailored towards the needs of busy parents everywhere.
Barnardos Family Support Services work with vulnerable children and families, providing services such as breakfast clubs, support to young people at risk of early school leaving, support for children affected by drugs and alcohol abuse, and so much more.
Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Barnardos, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
