Programme Details

Target audience: Parents of children 0-5, Parents of children 6-12, Parents of teenagers 0 – 15 years old
Theme/subject matter: General Parenting, Behaviour Management
Method of delivery: Group work, Programme delivered in a group setting over 8 weeks. Combining with 3 phone sessions to support the parent in the home.
Programme aims: Group Teen Triple Parenting Programme aims to support parents to find positive parenting strategies to manage issues with their teenagers who are at risk of developing behaviour problems. The programme is a preventative programme which aims to promote positive, caring relationships between parents and their teenagers, and to help parents develop effective management strategies for dealing with a variety of adolescent behaviour problems and common development issues.
Resources used:  Group Teen TripleP Parenting Programme is delivered over 8 weeks. The group consists of approx. 10 parents per group. The programme is delivered by 2 facilitators. Barnardos have trained with HSE practitioners and have joined in partnership to deliver this course in the Mullingar area in Co. Westmeath. Programmes use a variety of resources such as DVD for parents as a guide for bringing up teenagers. Parents are given their own workbook and supported to try out what they have learned in their home. Teen Triple P is an initiative of the Parenting and Family Support Centre of the University of Queensland, Australia. Delivery of the Triple P programmes are worldwide. The programme was developed by Dr Matt Saunders, Professor of Clinical Psychology and Director of Parenting and Family Support Centre at the University of Queensland. Qualifications:  BA Applied Social Studies in Social Care. Pamela is a trained facilitator in Group Teen TripleP Parenting course (2008).
Experience:  Pamela has delivered this course to parents in the locality since early 2009.
