Here are answers to some frequently asked questions about Barnardos Big Toddle
Once you’ve registered to take part, we will send you a Big Toddle Little Heroes pack with everything you need to organise your own event. You’ll receive a sticker and Little Heroes mask/hat for each child, along with a fun colouring competition for your group. We encourage all the children to work together to enter the Big Toddle Colouring Competition for a chance to win super prizes for your group. Your pack will also contain a poster so you can let everyone know the details of your Big Toddle, as well as a helpful guide, which will help to inspire your fundraising and help to make your Big Toddle a super fun day for everyone.
We’ll provide you with plenty of inspiring and creative ideas to make your Big Toddle a fun opportunity for your little ones to learn.
Toddle time is May & June and you can decide when and where you’ll hold your Big Toddle within those months. Events can take place outdoors in a play-area or garden, or you can Toddle in your local park of along a nature trail, subject to your own insurance. If you can’t take your Toddle outdoors, don’t worry! Our helpful guide will provide ideas on how you can bring your event indoors and still have lots of fun!
Big Toddle Packs are available in English and Irish.
Once you’ve held your Big Toddle and returned your fundraising we’ll send you a very special Big Toddle Little Heroes Certificate for your group.
Check your emails – if you haven’t received an email from our Chief Toddler, Mark, check your spam and all the other email tabs. If you still haven’t received an email, do get in touch with Mark on [email protected].
A: Toddles are usually a half-mile which can take place outdoors in a play-area or garden – but the distance and location are up to you. You can Toddle in your local park or along a nature trail if you wish, just check your own groups insurance first.
If you’re toddling at home, you can toddle a shorter distance around your garden or living room.
Your Big Toddle pack contains a sponsorship envelope for each child in your group so they can collect sponsorship money for their toddle walk from nana and grandad, aunts and uncles at home. Another option is to create an online sponsorship page for your group – and it couldn’t be easier.
Simply go to our Big Toddle idonate page select the Barnardos Big Toddle 2025 event and click Start Fundraising. Select “Group Fundraiser”, enter your creche name and email address. You’ll then receive an email from idonate to activate your account.
From this account, we recommend you personalise your fundraising page by calling it your group name’s Big Toddle e.g. Little Rascal’s Big Toddle Fundraiser; add a photo of your group or perhaps your logo; add a message to tell everyone why you’re taking part and ask them to show their support for your little ones amazing efforts.
You’re all set then to promote your Big Toddle and share your fundraising page link by WhatsApp, text, email or on your social media platforms.
That’s it. A simple and very effective way to fundraise!
All funds raised go directly to supporting Barnardos’ core work. The funds you and your little ones raise will support our Early Years services – programmes that ensure some of the youngest and most vulnerable children we work with are best prepared for the transition to ‘big school’.
