Will’s future is looking a little brighter this January!

Will’s future is looking a little brighter this January!

Will, a 10 year old boy, was facing a very grim Christmas. His family was struggling to make ends meet over the past year, and his Mam was suffering from depression. This left poor Will really struggling with overwhelming feelings of anxiety.

Thankfully, our wonderful supporters – that’s you! – who responded to our appeal, ensured that Will and his family were not left out this Christmas, and that they have support heading into the New Year too.

There was lovely warm and festive food for everyone, and even presents for Will and his sisters! Lynn, their Barnardos project worker, is working with the children to help them make sense of challenges at home.

Using a colour wheel, the children are learning to identify their emotions by associating them to colours.

They then go through ways to manage these emotions and regulate them with the help of Lynn and their parents.

Will’s Dad, who had left after he and Mam had yet another argument about the bills, came home after a few days, and he and Mam are learning to cope a little better each day. They sat down with Lynn to look at their communication styles and to discuss how they can try to work together better to deal with the challenges life presents them. Because adults need help too, to be the best parents that they can be.

Together, they’ve also put in place some routines around getting ready for school in the morning and managing homework in the evening.

Their situation will not resolve overnight, it will take time, but thanks to you they can now see hope.

Thank you so much for changing Will’s story!

Can you donate today to help give Will the same chances as other children?

Every single donation goes a long way in making a difference to the lives of children like Will.

Because Childhood Lasts A Lifetime.

While Will’s story is true, we have changed all names and some other details in order to protect the family’s identity. Photos used are models.
