Barnardos Post Adoption Team, Galway is running Me, Myself and I – a three-part creative workshop focusing on different aspects of identity and how these different elements have changed and expanded as a young person grows up. It is open to adopted teenagers aged 16 – 18 years. The years between 16-18 can be an exciting time; the young person is getting older, becoming more independent, and might be developing their own style and trying new things. It can also be a challenging time; it might not always be clear what’s expected of them. They might be dealing with peer pressure, or trying to fit in as they figure out just who they are.
This series of workshops aims to provide a safe space for older adopted teens to come together and chat about identity as they transition into adulthood. We’ll consider who and what might influence their own sense of identity and look at how adoption might play a part in this. Within the workshop they will have the opportunity to meet other teens, participate in creative activities and partake in interesting conversations.
