FAQs

How your money is spent

Every day we see the impact of poverty, neglect, disadvantage and violence on vulnerable children and families. And every day we work with these children to help change their lives for the better. But we can’t do it without your help.

Expenditure

Of every €1 we spent in 2024, 83c was spent directly on our work with children and families, 12c was invested in generating funds and 5c on retail stores.

Barnardos relies on income raised through fundraising to support our services. In 2025, we need to raise just over €10m million to ensure we can continue to work with the children and families who need it most in over 56 Barnardos service locations all over the country.

Children only get once chance at childhood and what happens to them now sets them on their path for life.

Together we can restore childhood and empower children at risk to reach their potential now and to become happy, fulfilled adults.

As a member of Charities Institute Ireland we subscribe to their Triple Lock, which means we are compliant with best practice in ethical fundraising

The purpose of these guidelines is to:

  • Improve fundraising practice;
  • Promote high levels of accountability and transparency by organisations fundraising from the public;
  • Provide clarity and assurances to donors and prospective donors about the organisations they support.

Barnardos believes we meet the standards these guidelines set out.
