| Programme aims: | To develop and increase the resilience and reduce the risk factors for substance abuse in teens/young people. To improve the social competence, school performance in 12-16 year old young people. To strengthen the bond between the parent and child/teen. To enhance the parenting and coping skills of parents dealing with difficult family situations. |
| Resources used: | Strengthening Families Programme resource manuals by Dr Karol Kumpfer. Handouts and homework assignments for parents/guardians and teens. Funding to finance the programme and suitable venue. Site Co-ordinator to oversee/manage the programme. Planning, review and evaluation meetings. |

| Experience: | Marian has 13 years experience of working in both the area of community development and family support. Her current remit is to work with Youth & Community, responding to community issues focusing on mental health & well being of the target groups and sourcing suitable learning programmes in response to the needs. Part of Marians remit is to co-facilitate the delivery of the Strengthening Families Programme with the Family Support Worker and Centre Co-ordinator. |
