Ireland’s institutions had a profound, lifelong effect on those who lived in them. The Irish government has enacted an Action Plan that attempts to address some of these issues, including the Mother and Baby Institution Payment Scheme and the Birth Information and Tracing Act.

Please note this webinar is intended for a UK audience however, is open to all survivors who may find the content of interest.

This webinar will include details on the following topics:

  • The Mother and Baby Institution Payment Scheme
Applications are open until March 2029. But who qualifies, what are the rules, and how does the process work? This training explains the scheme clearly, supporting potential applicants, family members, and advice or support workers with accurate, up-to-date information.
  • Pre-tracing Information

Tracing family members can be a significant step for many survivors. To support this process, Barnardos Ireland will share information on: preparing to search for your birth family, the reunion experience, common challenges, perspectives from birth and adoptive families, and practising self-care.
