What’s the Role and Service?

Young Parents Support Project is European Social Fund + (ESF+) co-financed programme. This ESF+ Action is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.

The European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) is the EU’s main instrument for investing in people, focusing on improving employment and education opportunities as well as enhancing social inclusion and tackling poverty.
The ESF+ is implemented by Member States in partnership with the European Commission and the ESF+ Managing Authority in the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science has responsibility for implementation of the ESF+ in Ireland.

 

 

 

As a Project Co-ordinator, you will ensure the co-ordination, delivery and development of the YPSP service in the Clondalkin area. Ensuring consistency with the aims and objectives of Barnardos and contribute to the development of the Region and the Organisation.

What will my day to day look like?

  • Support the management, development and delivery of Barnardos work with children and families within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure effective referral, assessment, planning and review processes are in place to meet the needs of children and families participating in the service.
  • Ensure quality and best standards are adhered to in all aspects of the work.
  • Identify the need for service development to meet the needs of children and families within the catchment area.
  • Ensure that the service operates in a cohesive way within the region and organisation and to contribute to service development within the organisation.
  • Participate at regional management level and to contribute to other appropriate groups which develop strategies and policies within the organisation.
  • Ensure that legislation and statutory guidelines, organisational policy and corporate plan are fully implemented and that Barnardos policies and procedures are fully implemented within the area of responsibility of the post.
  • Identify the needs of children and families attending the service that are not being met, and to advocate at an individual, service and organisational level for them to be met.
  • Propose a budget for the service, participate in budget planning and manage an approved budget for the service in line with Barnardos financial procedures.
  • Identify funding opportunities and prepare proposals in consultation with the Assistant Director of Children’s Services/ Project Leader as appropriate.
  • Prepare reports on the work as required.
  • Ensure all case, financial and administrative records and files are maintained to a high standard and case records are accessible to Service Users, seeking permission from third parties as appropriate.
  • Ensure an up to date Health and Safety Statement and local relevant Risk Assessments are accessible and displayed for strict adherence; any health and safety concerns are to be dealt with efficiently and effectively.

What experience do I need?

  • Experience of working with vulnerable or disadvantaged children and young people.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrable management capacity
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage in a dynamic and busy environment
  • Teamwork required and the ability to work in collaboration with others
  • A commitment to respecting diversity and promoting inclusion
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Flexibility and adaptability in terms of tasks and time is essential for this post
  • Ability to manage the staff team in a constructive way, ensuring that a high level of service provision is delivered

Do I need a qualification?

Yes, to be considered for this role you will hold a recognised third level practice qualification[1] (minimum Level 7 on the NFQ, Course content should include relevant student placements) in one of the following:

  • Early Childhood Care and Education / Social Care / Education / Social Work / Youth Work or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years’ Education).

Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker. This includes those currently in the process of registration under CORU’s transitional arrangements (grandparenting route). Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria but have not yet completed registration are encouraged to apply. However, you will be required to provide proof of registration or evidence you have initiated the application process.

Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car essential.

The post-holder is initially assigned to work in the Clondalkin – Young Parent Support Programme as applicable but may be required in the future to work in other project(s) in the Dublin area in line with Organisational needs.
