This programme is about starting the journey of becoming self-reliant and independent. Its aim is to prepare and help the parent as their teenager prepares to expand relationships beyond the family network. To prepare the parent for change/struggle/first steps towards independence as their teenager meets new challenges during their teenage years.

Programme Details

Target audience:Parents in general, Parents of children 13-18, First time parents, Fathers
Theme/subject matter: General Parenting, First Time Parenting, Behaviour Management, Chapters includetopics of boundaries, bullying in all forms and sexual expression.
Method of delivery:Group work, One-to-one work, Can meet any needs of parents.

About the Facilitator

Name:Pauline Baston
Qualifications: H.Dip. in Relationship Studies (UCC), Dip. Parent Mentoring (UCC) and Montessori Dip. in Education (London Mont. Centre).
Experience:25 years experience working with children and parents through my playschool Aylesbury Preschool Playgroup. I have facilitated this course at Westgate Foundation. I have given talks to parents at primary and secondary schools, Ballincollig. I meet parents on a one-to-one basis. I am a registered tutor with Cork Education & Training Board, formerly VEC. I am a fully accredited member of IARM – Irish Association of Relationship Mentors.
