What’s the Role and Service?
We are looking for an experienced project worker to join our Family support services team in Ballyogan, Co Dublin.
This role involves working with children and families referred to the Family support teams in the Ballyogan area of Dublin South which has services located in both the Tivoli Family centre in Dún Laoghaire and Samuel Beckett Campus Ballyogan.
This post has responsibility for direct work with children and families referred to the service. It will involve one-to-one intensive interventions supporting parents and children following difficult life events, as well as collaborative interagency delivery of some group work as required. The work targets families from pre-birth to 15 years.
What will my day to day look like?
In this role, you will develop and implement programmes that respond to the needs of children and families referred to the service working in partnership with families and other organisational, community and voluntary bodies. You will be responsible for the following:
- Assessing the needs of the children and the families engaging with the project
- Planning, implementing and reviewing programmes for children/young people/carers/families based on an assessment of their individual and group needs
- Working with children/young people/carers/families in a variety of ways, including group work, individual work and family work, centre based and outreach work
- Liaising effectively with families and other statutory, community and voluntary bodies and to attend and contribute to reviews and case conferences as required
- Being vigilant for signs of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, neglect and any concerns regarding the welfare of children
- Identifying and documenting to the line manager any unmet needs of children/young people/carers/families within the service and to participate in the advocacy work of the agency
What experience do I need?
- A minimum of 2 years’ post qualification experience of working with vulnerable children and families.
- Experience of working in partnership with families and carers.
- Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing effective programmes with children and/or families.
- Experience of working with hard to reach children and families is highly desirable.
Do I need a qualification?
Yes, to be considered for this role you will hold a recognised third level practice qualification[1] (minimum Level 7 on the NFQ, Course content should include relevant student placements) in one of the following:
- Early Childhood Care and Education / Social Care / Education / Social Work / Youth Work or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years’ Education).
Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker. This includes those currently in the process of registration under CORU’s transitional arrangements (grandparenting route). Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria but have not yet completed registration are encouraged to apply. However, you will be required to provide proof of registration or evidence you have initiated the application process.
Additional information:
Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured car essential.
The post-holder is initially assigned to work in the Ballyogan / Dún Laoghaire Support service as applicable but may be required in the future to work in other project(s) in the Dublin area in line with Organisational needs.
