This is the 20th year of our Back to School survey, where we hear from parents/guardians/carers with children in primary and secondary school, to help us understand experiences of returning to school. Especially how much it costs.
Over the past few years there has been considerable progress in reducing back to school costs and improving financial supports for parents, such as introduction of free schoolbooks for primary school and extending child benefit to children that are 18, who are still in post primary education.
There’s a real opportunity to continue to put pressure on the government to progress reforms even further in this year’s budget. In order to do that, they need to see and hear directly from parents about the financial pressures that remain, the impact it has on families and children across the country, and the positive difference that recent reforms are making.
The 2024 survey is closed. We expect to have results available soon.
