Programme Details

Programme aims:Now in its second edition, the Adolescents Programme considers how parents can connect with and build good relationships with their teenage children, while also being firm and influential in their lives. The video illustrates well researched principles of effective communication and conflict resolution which parents can use with their teenagers. As well as role-play scenes and interviews with parents, the videos include interviews with young people about what it is like to be a teenager and their views about what makes families run smoothly. The new edition contains a fully expanded range of topics including: Getting to know and connecting with your teenager; Encouraging and listening to teenagers; Establishing rules and boundaries; Teaching teenagers responsibility; Discipline for young people / dealing with conflict; Solving teenage problems.
Resources used:Programme developed by John Sharry & Carol Fitzpatrick. SWKFRC hold the manual and DVDS and other resources needed to provide the course.
