Programme aims:The Early Years Parenting Programme aims to build on parents’ strengths and to have more enjoyable and satisfying relationships with their children and to help them solve discipline problems.
Resources used:Two DVDs which contain 3 hours of footage containing over eighty real scenes of parenting situations, which are backed up by comments by professionals, parents and children. A comprehensive facilitators manual that contains the full text of the DVDs, extensive background information, a full guide on how to prepare and run each session of the course, detailed group exercises, along with handouts and homework assignments for participants. Authors: The material was written and developed by Dr. John Sharry, Social Worker and Psychotherapist, Grainne Hampson & Mary Fanning, Speech & Language Therapists at the Department of Child & Family Psychiatry at the Mater Hospital in Dublin. The material was developed in consultation with colleagues in the Mater Hospital and in partnership with over forty parents and children who attended the Mater service along with other parents and children from the community.

About the Facilitator

Name:Clarecare Family Support Team Professionals facilitate groups.
Qualifications:Professional 3rd level qualifications in the area of family support, social work, community childcare work primarily. Also trained specifically in Parents Plus Programmes.
Experience:Facilitators are part of Clarecares Family Support team and have experience in the delivery of parenting and other group based programmes, as well as experience from working in the area of child and family support. Facilitators include Social Workers, Community Child Care Workers and Family Workers.
